We dream of becoming millionaires by the time we are 30 years. But only a few actually make the dream come true. Quite often, they are accidental millionaires, stumbling on the cash as they pursued their dream. Check out why I think these guys top my list of the youngest entrepreneurs across the world under the age of 30 years. Keenly take note of how each of them used their passion and love for something and made an empire out of it. Truly, the tables have turned and times are changing a new era has began!
Shravan Kumaran,12 and Sanjay Kumaran, 10
The first on the list is definitely these two brothers 12-year-old Shravan Kumaran and 10-year-old Sanjay Kumaran happen to top the list of the youngest entrepreneurs in the world. How did they achieve this? You may be expecting to hear a complicated answer. I mean they are not even teenagers yet! But these little ones have built a company out of what they love to do mostly, playing video games. “We wanted our own company to showcase our products. I have always been telling my father that I would like to start my own company. Then, we developed the game “Catch me, cop” and before submitting it at the App store, we started “Go Dimensions,” says Sanjay.
Mark Zuckerberg
Zuckerberg created the world’s biggest and most active social network in just eight years from his dorm at Harvard University. Facebook has over 800 million users globally. If it was a country, it would be the third biggest nation in the world in population. Now 29, Zuckerberg is the CEO and Chairman of Facebook with a personal wealth estimated at $9.6 billion. He became a billionaire by the time he was 23 years.
Emil Motycka
21 year old Emil Motycka started lowing mown when he was 13 years when he spotted an opportunity to make some money in lawning. He took a loan of $8,000 and bought his first commercial lawn mower. This was the beginning of Motycka Enterprises, a company which currently provides work for about 65 people in Northern Colorado. Motycka Enterprises offers everything from building and janitorial maintenance to lawn care, tree care, snow removal, and even Christmas light installation. The company helped Emil to earn $135,000 his senior year of high school. Isn’t this creative or what?
Adam Hildreth
At only fourteen years old, Adam Hildreth and his six friends launched the famous English social networking site Dubit. Dubit became one of the most popular websites in 2004. By 2005, Dubit had a net worth of more than 3.7 million dollars. Adam later founded Crisp thinking, which developed software that protected people from online predators. He is ranked 23 in the top 100 richest young people in the UK according to the 2011 Sunday times rich list.
Joe Penna
Next in line we have Joe Penna, a 23 year old music and video junkie. Out of the passion, Joe started making music videos with unconventional video editing and black sunglasses. His channel, called Mystery Guitar Man, features a new video every Tuesday and Thursday. Since getting started in June 2006, Mystery Guitar Man has amassed over 1.4 million subscribers and over 150 million total views – making it the 6th most subscribed channel on YouTube.
Danielle and Jodie Synder
These two sisters were passionate about fashion, so they decided to turn the passion to a business. Danielle, now 25 and Jodie,28 own a fashion company, Dannijio that was founded in 2008. The sisters were quite passionate about jewelry design from the early age. They would often spend hours doing wirework on their father’s medical tools and after a while they started selling their own creations at local boutiques. Dannijio quickly grew as their jewelry was worn by celebrities like Beyonce and has been seen at New York’s fashion week, in shows like Gossip Girl and the Today Show. Today the company boasts over $1 million in revenue and has been seen on numerous celebrities and fashion magazines.
Rachel Hollis
Chic Events was founded in January of 2004 by Rachel Hollis. It is an entertainment and events company founded on Rachel’s desire to create services based on things she loves most; parties, flowers, music, creativity, good people, good friends, delicious food, and tasty drinks.
Rachel was named by Inc. Magazine as one of the top 30 entrepreneurs under 30 in 2009. She has organized high-level parties for celebrities and Hollywood superstars earning herself as one of the most sought after event organizers.
Fraser Doherty
Fraser Doherty is the CEO of Super Jam. This Scottish young star was taught jam making by his grandmother when he was 14 years old. Fraser explains how it began: “My gram thought it would be fun if she showed me how to make jam. I loved it and went out to see if I could sell the few jars I had made.
“I sold them all to the neighbors in our street and it grew and grew. Pretty soon I was producing a thousand jars of jam a week from my mum and dad’s kitchen”.
Fraser Doherty currently supplies to all major UK stores and has sales of over 1.2 million dollars in 2011.
Savannah Britt
At only 18 years, Savannah is a publisher. She owns the Girlpez magazine, making her one of the youngest publishers in the world. Savannah started writing at the age of eight and by nine, she was hired as a paid reviewer of children’s books for The Kitchen Table News – a New Jersey newspaper with a readership of 70,000. But when that newspaper went under, Savannah was left unemployed at the tender age of 11. Like any great entrepreneur, Savannah pulled herself up by her bootstraps. The magazine, GirlPez, features coverage of events, like concerts and fashion shows, along with interviews from the likes of Kevin Rudolf, and Dawn from Dannity Kane.
Modhadam and co.
Rap Genius was created in October 2009 by founders Mahbod Moghadam, Tom Lehman and Ilan Zechory, now 28 years. They met when they were at Yale Uni pursuing their undergrad. Lehman and Moghadam came up with the idea for the website in the summer of 2009. Rap Genius is your guide to the meaning of rap lyrics (basically the internet version of the nerd-ass “rap dictionary”). You can listen to songs, read lyrics, and click the lines that interest you for pop-up explanations. The company is valued at 15 million dollars which is pretty good considering these guys are not yet 30.
