If you having been closely following the TV reality show – Shark Tank – you might have seen the episode where two young guys pitch to the ‘Sharks’ in season two. Omar Soliman and Nick Friedman have built a multi-million business that started as a way to make an extra buck while in campus. The two college mates set up College Hunks Moving Junk as a moving and logistics company in 2005.
“We thought the name was funny. After graduation, we invested all the money we had in the company, bought trucks, got a website and just started marketing our services,” Omar says.
The company provides long-distance and local household and office moving services and junk removal. College Hunks Moving Junk has franchises across the US and is looking to expand in other areas.
The two child-hood friends were pitching to the sharks with a view to interest them to invest in an offshoot of their business: College Foxes Packing Boxes. Instead of having guys packaging and moving clients’ stuff, the new off-shoot has pretty girls helping with the moving.
The business offers jobs to college students on summer break which works out well because most people prefer moving over the summer.
