Homeboyz Radio quickly suspends show host Didge after insensitive comments

There is trouble at Homeboyz Radio after they were left with no choice but pull a show and suspended one of its presenters after a massive backlash.

On Tuesday night (09.04.19) Mtaani show presenter and renowned singer Didge made fun of the gruesome murder of medical student Ivy Wangechi. He is said to have made jokes and puns about the murder while other presenters laughed.

According to many fans on Twitter who have made Didge a top trending topic today (10.04.19), the presenters were way out of line and lacked empathy. Others said that they should feel ashamed of themselves, that they had spoiled the radio station’s good reputation and called for immediate action to be taken by the station.

According to a statement released by the Galana Plaza based station, the show has since been pulled out of the schedule, suspended the presenter in question and apologized for the insensitive broadcasting upon reviewing the show.

The statement further notes that while the show is off the air, they will work on their production and editorial process to ensure that the same mistakes are not repeated.

As reported by The Sauce, Ivy Wangechi, a sixth-year medical student at Moi University School of Medicine, was killed inside Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret where she was doing her final exams. The suspect, Naftali Njahi Kinuthia, is said to have hit her with an axe before slitting the throat with a sword.
