Advertising in Times Square, one of the world’s most trafficked tourist attractions, commands a relatively high price but Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo made it there.
The renowned crooner featured on a billboard on the famous New York location for free while premiering his soon-to-be-released ‘Missounwa’ remix featuring Monique Seka, the appointed legendary queen of Afro-zouk music hailing from the Ivory Coast.
Speaking during a recent interview, Kenzo opened up on how he made it to the prestigious billboard in the USA without paying. The ‘Big Talent’ boss says he never sought to be put up on the billboard but they looked for him due to his inspiration and contribution to the music industry.
“They told me they liked what I do and they believed I had done a lot for my country and Africa. They said I did a lot in lifting up the children and promoting young talent. I’m a morale booster and some people notice that I do a good job at bringing good vibes among people,” Eddy Kenzo said.
According to Kenzo, the team from Times Square requested him for new content for them to showcase. He gave them a number of songs and they settled on ‘Minssounwa’ remix.
“It is a classic song and I’m authentic because I have tried to improve on the African music,” he posted.
