Last night, Kenyans were glued to their TV screens for a heart-wrenching exclusive with Felix Orinda alias Dj Evolve.
The deejay spoke to NTV’s Dan Mwangi on how he is faring following the fateful shooting by Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino that almost cost him his life on January 17th 2020 at his place of work B Club in Kilimani.
Evolve who is currently paralysed from the mid torso down, is receiving home care after six months in hospital.
He struggled to speak and his voice was barely audible in the interview. According to him, the incident left him traumatized and he has had trouble sleeping as he keeps having flashbacks of the shooting.
“Generally Im doing better as opposed to when it first happened. I rarely slept and always had memories of the incident,” Evolve painfully narrated.
He further said that he has left everything to God. “I left that to God and I am waiting for the justice system to see what will go through. Aside from that, I have nothing else to say about it,” he said.
His mother, too emotional to speak revealed that her life completely changed and that she had to drop everything to be her son’s primary caregiver. She also called for justice to be served.
Owino whose real name is Paul Ongili was charged in court with the attempted murder of the DJ in January and released on a Sh10 million bail. In a ruling delivered on January 27, 2020, Milimani Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi said the money will be used to settle the victim’s hospital bills.
Following the story, Kenyans on Twitter called for the arrest and swift prosecution of the lawmaker who is not only a free man but still has his job.
According to a report by NTV, the cries of justice by Kenyans prompted the office of the DPP to fast track the case against Mr.Owino.
