Harry Potter & The Cursed Child is finally out!

J.K Rowling is back with a new release, a follow up to the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was finally released on the 31t of July. With a large crowd waiting in anticipation to buy their own copies of the book, it seems that the Harry Potter craze is still alive and well. The youngsters who once had their parents buy them the books from the Potter series have grown alongside the trio Harry Potter, Hermione and Ron. Now all grown up, a multitude of the readers were proud to buy copies for themselves. The play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the perfect end to a major part of pop culture in the 21st century. Many fans took to social media to express their excitement on the release of the new book.

Released almost 9 years after the last book, the book was met with lots of excitement by fans. One such fan Noor Waheed a student from the University of Virginia read the book in 3 hours.  Gripped by the  riveting descriptions and extensive plot lines, it is not difficult to understand why Noor could not put the book down.

When interviewed by USA College Today, the student pointed out the differences between the novel series’ narrative and the last installment Harry Potter and the Cursed Child presented as a play. She noted, “first of all, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is not a novel but a play. So obviously it doesn’t delve into details like a novel set in prose might. However, I was shocked at how well character emotions were conveyed through stage directions. It was so clear to visualize too. The narrative voice was just the same as it is in the original books and the continuation worked seamlessly — even if it took place 19 years in the future. Also, this book is more about the progeny than about golden trio explicitly, though they are still heavily involved.”

Though the book is yet to hit shelves in Kenya, in a few weeks you could get your hands on a copy and reminisce on the characters that were oh so familiar.
