Bongo star Harmonize launched his latest album over the weekend and his former boss Diamond Platnumz is on the frontline cheering him on.
Wasafi boss Diamond Platnumz recently posted the tracklist to Harmonize’s new album on his Instagram and asked fans to download the body of work from his former protégé.
Fans applauded the hitmaker for supporting Harmonize, for being so mature and letting the past stay in the past.
However, there might be a reason why Diamond is happy for Harmonize. According to a report by Nairobi News, Harmonize is finally a ‘free’ man after he finished paying off the Ksh26.8 million debt he owed to his former boss. Harmonize made the revelation this past weekend at his album party.
The launch was hosted by Cloud FM radio presenter Diva who at one point during the launch sought to establish if he had settled the Tsh600 million bill with the WCB record label owned by Diamond.
“Niwashukuru uogozi wangu wa zamani (WCB) na wa sasa kwa kunivumilia kwani imetumika busara kubwa hadi kumaliza deni. Nimelipa kidogo kidogo kwa kuuza baadhi ya vitu vyangu hichi na hichi hadi sasa nimefanikiwa kulipa deni lote” Harmonize answered.
The 18 track album dubbed ‘Afro East’ is Harmonize’s first album since his exit from Diamond Platnumz’s record label.
The launch happened at the Mlimiani City Hall in Dar Es Salaam where Harmonize put on an electric live showcase of the tracks in the album.
Harmonize described the album as “the sound of East Africa because African songs especially, that of East Africa is so special and creative.”
The album features collaborations from the likes of Burna Boy, Yemi Alade, Mr Eazi, Morgan Heritage, Khaligraph Jones, Falz and Dj Seven.
Harmonize’s album has been produced by Hunter, Kriz Beat, Abba, Wills Give Them, Fanatix, and Black.
During his time with Wasafi Records, Harmonize was a top-selling artist and released the ‘Afro Bongo’ EP.
