Kenyan gospel singer Mercy Masika Muguro and husband David Muguro have launched a book club dubbed the Mercy Masika book club.
The ‘Mwema’ singer posted about this new journey saying that books are wealth and a treasure that once consumed nothing or no one can tell you what it is nor take away its power.
She added, “Knowledge gives you the power to earn, innovate, influence and inspire that is why I want people to read. I was looking for a way to use my influence to empower society to live a balanced life.”
According to a report by Nairobi News, during the launch, more than 40 members signed up for the book club, which will select a book of the month for members to read and discuss at the next meeting.
This month the club will focus on ‘Soar’ by T. D. Jakes. The invite-only event was graced by books lovers including media personalities Gospel TV host Antony Ndiema and Dan Mwangi of NTV.
Recently, Capital FM’s Amina Abdi Rabar teased her upcoming book club where they will get to read and review inspirational books such as ‘Becoming’ by former American first lady Michelle Obama.
Mercy Masika is an award-winning gospel singer known for hits like ‘Shule Yako’, ‘Nikupendeze’ and ‘Huyu Yesu’. She is also the Ariel brand ambassador.
