Kenyan rising star Sarah Ikumu aged 18 is known as the Golden buzzer girl but there’s so much more to her.
Sarah Ikumu got the world’s attention after her super Britain’s Got Talent auditions three years ago that earned her the very first golden buzzer of 2017 from the tough Simon Cowell. Since then she has gone on to perform at various high profile events and released her debut single ‘Save You’ in May 2019.
During a recent interview with The Sauce, Sarah talked about how she felt when Simon pressed the golden buzzer and the reason why she does not watch her previous performances is that she will only see what she should have done better rather than enjoy the performance.
Regarding ‘Save You‘ which is a soul/pop song, Sarah wanted a song that would be inspiring and her listeners would vibe to as well as sing along too. She admited that she is currently working on her next single and upcoming EP which she hoped to release by the end of the year.
Sarah also touched on mental health, her childhood and getting the much-needed support that she needs from her parents to pursue her love for music. The instrument that she would like to learn to play as well as artists she would like to work with ranging from American superstar Beyonce, Grammy award-winning Brit Adele, and Kenyan top artist Nyashinski.
