A 13-year old girl has recently been admitted to one of Ghana’s most prestigious University.

Ruth Ama Gyan-Darkwa is set to join Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in the last semester of 2017.  The young prodigy will be pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. Ruth is the youngest university student ever in the West African nation. In Ghana, admissions of students to university usually requires an age minimum of around 15 years.

Ruth Ama’s  passion for science may have been sparked by her father who is a physics teacher. Set to graduate in 2021 and Ruth will be a 17 years old university graduate. Ruth’s case is no surprise as earlier this year, the world also saw the youngest student ever to graduate from campus. Carson Huey-You was only 14-years old when he received his Physics degree from Texas Christian University.

In December 2012, she made it to the Forbes list as the 5th Top 100 Youngest Powerful Women in Africa.

Indeed, age is just a number and anyone with determination can achieve greatness.
