Barely a week after Morris Mwenda’s video went viral on social media, the 15-old-boy has had opportunities (he so eloquently talked about in the video) come flooding in. Yesterday, Morris met Chief Justice Dr. Willy Mutunga who offered an internship position in-between school terms, a big leap in Morris’ dream of becoming a lawyer.
In a matter of days, Morris has been in and out of major TV and radio stations, met sponsors and well wishers and had a meeting with the CJ.
His appeal for an opportunity for street kids – and a rather incisive description of what opportunity means – made many people share the video, with others offering help.
Businessman Joe Kariuki has offered to pay school fees for Morris.
Homeless of Nairobi, which rehabilitates young kids from the street, said the CJ offered invaluable advice to Morris.
“We spoke of many things touching on corruption in the system leading to a society that has more homeless people than it should. We also spoke of alternative means to helping the homeless and just society in general and we’re very proud that the CJ believes in our little institution and he was willing to learn a lot more about what we do.”
