Enwealth Financial Services, a social security financial services firm has unveiled a scholarship program to provide school fees grants to bright students from underprivileged backgrounds as part of its Corporate Social Investment. This year the program will disburse Kshs 3M to aid 34 students who attained 350 marks and above to realize their dream of joining Secondary School despite their dire financial constraints.
The 34 shortlisted students comprised a ratio of 55% female to 45 % male, were selected after a well-publicized call for application attracted over 131 students. Enwealth’s selection criteria gives priority to orphans followed by partial orphans and those from homes where guardians or parents are living with HIV or have been abandoned by either or both parents. On the program are 16 students who will continue to be supported this year; this brings the entire number of students under the Fanisi program to 50.
Enwealth Financial Services CEO, Mr. Simon Wafubwa says that fund is a critical part of its Strategic Plan and has a target to support 1000 students to a tune of Kshs 50M by 2022.
