Feeling lethergic? Here’s 3 reasons why you are constantly tired

Lethargy is a lack of enthusiasm and energy. A state of tiredness that leaves one feeling drained and demotivated to do anything.

In this time of Corona, many things have changed including our social dynamics. People are working from home, others are still on leave and students are stuck indoors all day because schools and universities have been closed down till next year.

A state that has caused such disruptions dubbed ‘the new normal’. The scare of catching the virus is in itself such a stress trigger for everyone. The number of infections continues to spike and what’s even worse the number of fatalities has been on a constant rise too.

This means heightened fears and keenness to follow government directives that include staying home, regularly washing hands, and wearing a mask at all times while in a public area. These directives have minimized social gatherings and general outdoor activities that act as a great source of stress relief. This leaving many in a state of being tired all the time which we described as being lethargic.

The state is an uncomfortable one and can prove quite daunting to get out of especially if you do not know the possible cause. To solve an issue, information on the cause is critical and thus here are some of the reasons why you are constantly tired even after getting rest or sleep.

  1. Cabin fever

This is a state of irritability and distress caused by being isolated and confined in an enclosed area for a long time. In this case, working from home or being stuck in the house the entire weekend can be a stress trigger leaving you with low energy levels that cause tiredness.

Hence get your mask and sanitizer and purpose to catch some sunlight more often. Go on strolls or a walk and bask in the sun. This will almost immediately lift your spirits, improving your mood and energy levels.

While in the house, draw your curtains and open your doors to let light and fresh air in. Also, a little cleaning and de-cluttering will help create a more conducive working environment in the house.

2. Lack of exercise

Thirty minutes per day is the recommended time to be set aside for exercise daily. Diet plays a huge role in your well-being. How you feel inside will most definitely manifest in the outside. Hence foods that leave you bloated or gassy such as junk food will only accelerate your feeling of fatigue.

Overeating or eating too little will also influence your mood 100%. Hence find a sweet spot and work towards cleaning up your diet to feel better.

The pandemic at hand has caused and continues to cause so much stress on different aspects of our lives.

Regardless, identifying what bad behaviors one has picked as a coping mechanism and finding a way out is crucial to have a somewhat better year, regardless of how things are panning out due to COVID 19.
