‘Father of Asahd’ delivers big as DJ Khaled brings together Nipsey Hussle, Buju Banton and Chris Brown

DJ Khaled is back, and has not disappointed with his 2018 album “Father of Asahd.” Known for his larger than life personality, his music is always a trendsetter and a winner on the music charts.

His album whose first tracks included the mega collaboration by power couple Jay-Z and Beyonce on the track ‘Top Off,’ and ‘No Brainer’ with Justin Bieber, Chance the Rapper, has continued to maintain industry buzz with sought after features.

Khaled’s 15-track album also tackles some social issues and features some sentimental releases, among them the Nipsey Hussle tribute. The track dubbed ‘Higher’ features recently deceased neighborhood hero Nipsey Hussle and RnB icon John Legend. The track is the epitome of the best music. Symphony-like instruments and angelic harmonies led by Grammy winner John Legend grounds the track, for Nipsey to take it ‘Higher.’ DJ Khaled remarkably pulls back from putting in his ad-libs, which makes for a well-rounded, soul-lifting listeners experience.

Among the most notable tracks from the renowned deejay turner producer and now father includes Buju Banton’s feature on two tracks  ‘Holy Ground’ and ‘Holy Mountain’. Khaled has a panache for combining the new and old,  blending rubadub culture and a new sound in the track ‘Holy Mountain’ featuring Buju Banton, Sizzla, Mavado, 070 Shake. The tracks are Buju Banton’s first musical offering since his release from prison. As earlier reported by The Sauce, Buju was in the studio with DJ Khaled 9 days after being released from prison in December 2018.

SZA and Khaled take us on their tribute to Game of Thrones in the track ‘Just Us.’ The album definitely needed this track to appeal to all audiences. SZA’s sweet melodies carry the throwback track which is eerily similar to Outkast’s ‘Ms. Jackson. The video is a tribute to every history set production, where it is Spartacus or Game of Thrones; the cinematics are interesting to watch. This track reminds us why we love DJ Khaled so much, he keeps it current but never forgets where he came from.

The album may have taken a while, however, may do agree that it is definitely worth it. According to Variety, “the oversized Miami-by-way-of-New-Orleans personality has invited his famous friends to the brightly lit ball for 10 albums now”, but this time was different.

DJ Khaled seemed to have found some purpose, adding depth and meaning to his eleventh album.
