The Kenya Film and Classification Board Boss Ezekiel Mutua has been put on terminal leave, until his contract expires in October.
An internal memo dated August 6th 2021 sternly indicated that Christopher Wambua from the Communications Authority of Kenya will hold the position of interim boss.
Mutua who is also known as the Moral Police had on Thursday responded to claims of him getting fired from the job on Twitter.
“My attention has been drawn to reports on social media to the effect that I have been fired as CEO of KFCB. Please ignore such malicious rumours. I am not aware of such developments and there can be no grain of truth in them as there’s no vacancy in the office of the CEO KFCB,” read his tweet.
Makueni Senator Mutua Kilonzo confirmed the news on Thursday evening (05.08.2021) when he tweeted his support to an embattled Mutua.
“Ezekiel Mutua unlawfully removed by CS Mucheru as CEO after being lawfully appointed by the Board . Laws are mere suggestions for this administration,” he issued.
Mutua has been at the helm of KFCB since assuming the position in 2015.
Predicatably, Twitter has been awash with reactions to the news. Here are some of the most notable tweets:
