Music is a major reason why Kenyans use YouTube on a daily.
The top 10 trending tracks in Kenya came with a few surprises. At number 10 Jimmy D Psalmist track “Consuming Fire” garnered 12M views. .Of course, it would not be a list worth considering without WizKid making the list at number 9. His track “Socco” went viral; and so did the shaku shaku dance. Yemi Alde’s “Bum Bum” takes the 8th spot. The track that was a success for the Nigerian artist, saw her solidify her place as a Queen of dance. Tanzanian Mbosso takes the 7th spot with the track “Nadekeza.” Willy Paul and Nandy took the number 6 spot on the list, proving the controversial collaboration ” Njiwa” did indeed pay off.
5.Lamba Lolo – Ethic Entertainment
The viral video introduced a new genre of rap, that took over the local scene. They may have been considered underdogs, but this ranking proves Ethic is one to watch in 2019. The group of rappers have since worked with Kansoul and are set to produce more music in 2019.
4. Nyashinski – Bebi Bebi
Nyashinski has had a series of wins in 2018. The former Kleptomanic continues to conquer the music industry solo.

Otile Brown may have had a controversial year, however, his music hit all the right spots. At least his fans think so.

Kenya’s biggest musical act lost out on the top spot. Nonetheless, the dance moves made it super memorable.
