Eric Wainaina bags honorary award

 Popular Kenyan artist Eric Wainaina receives an honorary award.

Legendary Kenyan musician Eric Wainaina received the 2018 Music In Africa Honorary Award at the opening of the Music In Africa Conference for Collaborations, Exchange and Showcases (ACCES) held at the Kenya National Theatre, Nairobi.

The elated singer posted the news on his Instagram page saying that receiving the award was a humbling experience.

The award by the Music In Africa Foundation (MIAF), aims to recognize the outstanding contribution of notable musicians to their home country’s industry and that of Africa as a whole.

Veteran Senegalese singer Baaba Maal, received the same award last year during the ACCES visit to Senegal.

The “Daima” singer has over the years released well known thought-provoking songs  “Nchi Ya Kitu Kidogo”  has become an anthem for anti-corruption, while his first studio album “Sawa Sawa” remains one of the highest-selling solo albums in Kenya.

In July 2018, Wainaina, 45, released his latest album “Dreams in stereo” featuring hit singles such as “Okay”, “Don’t Bury Me”, “Hallelujah People” and includes popular names such as Kagwe Muigai, Blinky Bill, Kendi Nkonge, and John Nzenze among others.
