Endometriosis warrior Jahmby Koikai proves healthy and strong as she plans to return home

Endometriosis survivor Jahmby Koikai is healthy and strong, and friends and family are more than excited about her improved health.

Koikai or Faya Mama as she is known has been undergoing treatment in the United States for months. Her journey to recovery has been long and arduous after being diagnosed with the deadly disease. The media persona became the face of those who are fighting the good fight against the debilitating disease. With great effort and support from family, friends and the general public raising funds for her specialized care, Njambi has received treatment and is set to return home to Kenya soon.

She shared a moving tribute on Instagram, opening up about how ‘blessed’ she felt for overcoming the worst in search of treatment. She performed the track ‘Kuliko Jana’ on piano, a touching song that praises the Almighty for His faithfulness and goodness. She quoted Isaiah 43:2, and explained “I have gone through the fire I’ve been through the flames and I do not even smell of smoke… Thank you to everybody who has been apart of my journey.”

A grateful Koikai has previously taken to Instagram to share her pilgrimage to better health. In several posts, she has pointed out the vital care she has received from specialists who catered to her specific and complex medical needs.

After the news of her illness hit the press as early as late 2016, the popular host went on a press tour to bring attention to the disease that is known to affect many women. Media, public figures, fans, friends and family have continued to donate to her Go Fund Me account as well as other avenues. Before leaving she performed on the Koroga Festival stage in November 2017, and opened fundraising accounts to cater to the high costs of treatment abroad. Friends within the public space also organized a fundraiser in 2017 to contribute to the health bills.

Koikai made headlines in May 2019 to clear up rumors that she had passed away while undergoing treatment for Thoracic Endometriosis abroad. According to a previous report on The Sauce, the former Trend presenter took to social media to confirm that she is indeed alive and kicking. She took to Instagram stating that the claims that she is dead are completely false and utterly misleading. Faya Mama went on to joke that she was actually considering starting a YouTube channel to keep concerned netizens up to date. The former radio host joked that she would offer videos on “1000 ways to stay alive,  how to have good skin and strong locs.”
