Tea master Edgare Obare went missing after allegedly being kidnapped yesterday, 2nd November outside the Kiambu Law Courts.
The well-known YouTuber who gained popularity due to his scathing revelations of the private lives of various key figures was allegedly taken while on his way to attend a court proceeding in his case against Instagrammer and fellow YouTuber Natalie Tewa.
Taking to Instagram earlier today, after what he claimed to be a long day with the police, Obare shared that he was taken by three unidentified men, who led him away to a waiting vehicle just outside of the Kiambu Courts. He went on to point out that he was cuffed, as they drove to an unknown destination with no indication of what led to the arrest, or what he would be facing next.
He was also hooded, as the unidentified men tried to keep him unaware of their whereabouts. In his InstaStories, Obare claims that they stopped at some point to change number plates, and even went on to attempt to conceal kidnaping, putting a cloth over the handcuffs for good measure perhaps in the event they would have been stopped.
According to Edgar’s posts online, he was repeatedly questioned about his blog and line of work. Edgar claims one of the unidentified men went on to threaten him, saying should he ever expose him for cheating he would kill him while another claimed he would sodomize him.
After what would have been some hours of berating, Obare also claimed things got physical with the men who allegedly carried AK47s. He claims he was drugged, beaten and eventually released after they took some scandalous pictures of him according to Obare’s posts online. He narrated that the men alleged striped him naked.
After hours of the ordeal, he was allegedly set free unaware of his surroundings. He made it to safety with the help of good Samaritans. However, it seems that Obare’s claims of a nightmare have spurred support for him, and raised concerns over citizen safety.
Though it is not clear if the three unidentified men were police officers or what unit of the force they represented, it is clear that Obare is truly shaken.
Many public figures including XtianDela, Instagram comedian Flaqo411, Sauti Sol’s Bien Aime have come out in support of Obare, speaking out against police brutality.
