The music doctor is apparently also the professor of the cash lane, according to the latest Forbes reports. Dr. Dre earned $620 million in the last fiscal year, more than all the other rappers combined including Jay Z and P Diddy who both earned $60 million. Dr. Dre’s bulk of the income came from his businesses including Beats by Dre which was acquired by Apple.
Drake (though some people would say he is not a rapper) made a surprise appearance at number 4 on the top 24 top earners list with $33 million. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis made it to the top 5 with $32 million.
Diversified business interests, endorsements and tours made a significant contribution to the artistes earnings on top of album sales.
