All too familiar Kenyan gengetone artist band, Ochungulo Family, have allegedly split up.
Fans noticed that their YouTube channel with 158k subscribers which was previously named “Ochungulo Family” was changed to just “Nelly The Goon”, one of the group’s trio. It was noted that their songs also were deleted from the channel.
The group consisting of Nelly The Goon, D’more, and Benzema is seemingly gone through a split given a previous unexpected post. They took to Instagram to inform their fans saying, “To all our Fans… We wanna say Thank you for the support you have given us over the past few years. You have been good to us, God has been good to us & the music has been good to us. We have reached a point we have different goals & targets. So the decision of us splitting is a mutual feeling and we saw that as the best way forward.”
Although they kept releasing and producing music as a group, the three used to embark on other solo projects and collaborations.
Speaking to The Sauce, Benzema declined to comment on the alleged split, saying “there is nothing more to it.” Benzema ended 2020 on a high with his collaboration with Savara ‘By Pass’ surpassing more than 500K views on YouTube with more music set to drop this year.
D’more also collaborated with Parroty, Kappy, and Mastar VK on the track ‘Tuko Locked’ which dropped in October 2020 gaining more than 200K views. Nelly The Goon’s has also dropped several releases over the past few months.
Hopefully this new step will allow all three artists to explore their individual sound.
