Relief for Bongo stars Diamond Platnumz and Rayvanny as BASATA lifts ban.
Tanzania’s music regulatory body BASATA has lifted the ban on top Bongo singer Nasib Abdul aka Diamond Platnumz and his WCB signee Raymond Shaban aka Rayvanny, the ban included restrictions on performing their explicit song Mwanza, releasing new music, organizing and performing Wasafi Festival in and out of Tanzania.
Now the two popular Wasafi artists have been allowed by Tanzania’s Baraza la Sanaa ya Taifa (Basata) to resume recording music. In a statement that Diamond posted on Instagram, Basata said Wasafi label can return to recording music but will be closely monitored after their recent ban.

Taking to social media, Diamond Platnumz thanked the authority for lifting the ban, giving them a chance to get back to making music. Minutes after the ban was lifted, Diamond called Rayvanny for a studio session at his home.

Diamond and Rayvanny are known for their fire collabos such as the banned track ‘Mwanza’, ‘Iyena’, and ‘Salome’ featuring Diamond’s baby mama Hamisa Mobetto. Last year, BASATA banned all Wasafi performance in December despite their highly anticipated tour. The Government body, however, allowed the singer to perform in Kenya where he had three shows lined up.
