As is the tradition every year Forbes releases a list of top influencers in various industries. The Top 30 under 30 featured an interesting mix of individuals pulled from the technological sector to entertainment. Here are some of the more interesting names to feature in the prestigious list.
1.Desiigner
According to Forbes, Sidney Selby III, better known as Desiigner, stormed airwaves with his infectious “Panda,” track. The 19-year-old had his first release gain triple platinum status with record sales. The New Yorker has continued to release great tracks including Timmy Turner and Champions. Working with an impressive roster of artists including Kanye West and Trey Songz, Desiigner is set to make major moves in 2017 after his nomination in 4 categories in the upcoming Billboard Music Awards.
2.Simone Biles
Forbes pointed out that Simone Biles is among “the most decorated U.S. women’s gymnasts ever and an instant sensation”. The 19-year-old has won 4 Olympic gold medals in addition to corporate sponsorships with Kelloggs and chocolate manufacturer Hersheys. The record-breaking champion has reignited the world’s excitement over the sport of gymnastics.
3.Kylie Jenner
The Keeping Up The Kardashian star has made waves in the entertainment sector and established herself as a force in the beauty industry with her beauty line Kylie Cosmetics the brand that gave teen girls the fast-selling “Kylie Lip Kit” thereby earning her a place on the Forbes List. Apart from her cosmetics line, Kylie also increases her earnings from her clothing line with her sister Kendall. Only 19, Kylie she has also been named as Time Magazines Most Influential Teens of 2014. The California girl is said to be worth over $18 Million, being the second highest earner among the Kardashian clan.
4. Tory Lanez
Grammy nominated Tory Lanez has made his mark on the music industry with great hits such as “Luv” and “Say It” that made it to the Billboard Hot 100. The Canadian star released his debut album “I Told You” in late August 2016 after a difficult start in the industry full of disappointments and failed strategy. Now established in the industry, Lanez has offered his audience a new genre of rap.
5.Augusta Uwamanzu-Nna
As a finalist in the 2016 Intel Science Talent Search, Uwamanzu-Nna discovered that adding a nano-clay ingredient called attapulgite to cement slurries improves the undersea cement seals that keep offshore oil wells from leaking landing. Her contributions to offshore mining gave this Nigerian native a spot on the Forbes list. The Harvard student made headlines in 2016 after being accepted to 8 Ivy-League colleges according to an article on CNN.
6.Lil Yatchy
This controversial rapper that shot to fame from the tracks “Minnesota” and “One Night” has seen great success. Miles Parks McCollum, aka Lil Yatchy is known for his conventional approach to rapp that is a mishmash of styles that continues to win over legions of fans. The “Brocolli” crooner landed on the Forbes List due to his continuous success, with his “Brocolli” track peaking at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100.
