If you haven’t submitted your proposal for the Students’ Marketing Challenge, you have one day to do so as the challenge will be coming to an end tomorrow (31st October). The competition, organised by the Marketing Society of Kenya in partnership with What’s Good Studios and Capital Campus, aims to provide a launching pad for Kenya’s premier indie band Yellow Light Machine in a bid to launch them onto the global scene with a great marketing digital plan.
The Student Marketing Challenge seeks to provide university students irrespective of their major in university, a chance to create innovative digital proposals that will see them make a presentation before distinguished panelists from various business sectors. The digital marketing plan should be a complete plan that will map out how the band could be marketed digitally to attract a following for the band.
Yellow Light Machine is a band comprised of 9 members who seek self expression as they horn their craft for the sake of creating great music. The band members began composing and brand new music since 2012 with more members joining the band as they year went by.
The students will have a chance to gain mentorship from leading industry players after which they will present their digital strategy at the Marketing Society Gala Dinner to be held on the 14th November at Carnivore Grounds. The winners stand to win cash prize of 100,000 shillings as well as a 3 month internship courtesy of Whats Good Studios.
The band visit various campuses to interact with students in a relaxed atmosphere. In addition to this, the band has also been on Capital FM’s Fuse show and continues to make their presence known on the internet.
