Daystar University Council is pleased to announce the appointment of the 4th Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof Laban Peter Ayiro.
The decision to appoint Prof. Laban Ayiro was taken by a full Council on Friday, February 22, 2019, after a rigorous process that began in August 2018 soon after the inauguration of the new Council on July 31, 2018. Prof. Ayiro was identified from among 30 applicants who expressed interest in the position through a Human Resource Consultant,
Manpower Services (Kenya) Limited.
Prof. Ayiro is expected to take up his new appointment on March 1, 2019. The University Council has put in place an elaborate induction programme which shall begin on March 1, 2019. The new Vice-Chancellor will be inducted by the Ag. Vice-Chancellor Prof. James Kombo, culminating with a formal installation into Office.
Prof. Ayiro is a He is a Full Professor of Research Methods at Moi University and previously held the position of Ag. Vice Chancellor of Moi University. In addition, he served in the capacities of Director of Quality Assurance and DVC Administration and Planning. He has over 30 years’ experience in educational management, administration, and leadership including Provincial Director of Education, Deputy and Senior Deputy Director of Education at the
Kenya Education Management Institute, Senior Deputy Director for Policy and Planning at the Ministry of Education; and Senior Deputy Director for Research and Curriculum Development at Kenya
Institute of Curriculum Development.
A distinguished scholar, Prof. Ayiro has also been involved in Policy Development and Implementation at the highest level in the education sector. In 2011, was awarded Senior Fulbright Fellowship for research and teaching at Texas A&M University by the American Government. Prof. Ayiro has a track record in research and publication with over thirty publications.
