Sometimes, Kenyans on Twitter speak out of turn. In fact, some may say their main objective is to ruffle feathers even when it comes to the sad death of a young med student Ivy Wangechi.
In a recently reported incident, a young medical student from Moi University was hacked to death. According to The Sauce, Ivy Wangeci, a sixth year-medicine student was hacked to death by her boyfriend who attacked her with an axe within the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital. The man who is revealed to be Naftali Njahi Kinuthia then tried to escape but was cornered and beaten up by boda-boda operators before he was rescued and handed over to police. Investigations into the killing have been opened according to DCI head George Kinoti.
As the news of the Wangeci’s tragic death made its way to the world wide web, it seems that many online may have commented on the young woman’s character without having any knowledge of her. Some even went on to play detective only hours after Wangeci lost her life.
Critical qn, this man has stalked her for years, yet no report to police. This man travels to pick her out from hundreds of students & kills her. We need to get to root cause of these matters not allowing toxic feminists to block investigations that help understand issues. https://t.co/hUNoYcLxPc

According to a friend and classmate Rodgers Dan Abidha, the rumors and misconceptions about the beautiful doctor-to-be are uninformed and should be stopped. The insensitive comments have also been shamed, with many paying tribute to the young woman.
The Moi University student took to Twitter to clarify a few things in a series of revealing, heartfelt posts:

I'm a 6th year medical student, at Moi University School of Medicine. I'm her friend, we are currently in the same rotation, mental health. Or I guess I should say I was her friend, 😭😱😱😰. That guy has robbed the world of a brilliant doctor. So sad.

The guy has been stalking her vigorously for the last one year, she had to change a her number just to avoid this guy. We are government sponsored students, our fees is 30,000/= a year, on the highest end, to study medicine. rumours that the guy has been paying her fees are lies.

Though it remains unclear what led to Wangeci’s death, the suspect’s mother has come forward to share her understanding of their complicated relationship. As reported on The Sauce, the suspect’s mother has since spoken to the press; confirming the couple’s relationship woes that could have lead to the untimely death of the young med student. In an interview with Standard Media she said “They had been in a relationship even before my son got a job and the woman joined the school. He even wanted to marry her, but it seems they began having issues.”
Investigations are still ongoing, while the suspect remains in police custody.
