Kenyan Jazz Trumpeter Christine Kamau has been invited to join 16 jazz music industry players from 15 countries for the 2018 Jazz from Germany Visitors Program 16th-22nd July.
The 2018 Jazz from Germany Visitors Program comprises festival directors and musicians from USA, Canada, Turkey, India, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Cuba, Russia, Thailand and Kenya. The artists selected are set to engage in an extensive tour of the jazz scene in Berlin, Munich and Stuttgart by attending jazz festivals and visiting jazz clubs.
Kenyan representative Christine Kamau, is a Trumpeter and Performing Artist. Her music is who describes her music as a fusion of Jazz, Funk, Soul, Benga and ChakaChaka. She credits her music influences to Hugh Masekela, Maroon Commandos, Miles Davis among others.
Now, a big name in the African jazz scene, Kamau has also set up Women In Music Forum as Founder and Artistic Director. The initiative seeks to promote women in the music industry via various events including the popular ‘Women In Music Concert Series’, ‘Women In Music Panel Discussions’ & ‘Women In Music Jam Sessions’.
