Cardi B has is for some major wins at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) with 10 nominations.
The ‘Be Careful’ hitmaker – who gave birth to her daughter Kulture earlier this months – has had a record-breaking year thus far and it looks set to get even better as she racked up an impressive amount of nods ahead of the forthcoming music ceremony.
The “Invasion of Privacy” rapper has managed to bag nominations for some major categories including Artist of the Year and Best New Artist. Some of her most notable collaborations including her ‘Finesse’ remix with Bruno Mars received five nods – including Video of the Year and Song of the Year – and her ‘Dinero’ collaboration with Jennifer Lopez and DJ Khaled is in with the shot of scooping the trophy for Best Latin Song of the Year. Sadly, her collab with the Migos and Nicki Minaj was not nominated for any award.
‘Bartier Cardi’ – featuring 21 Savage – is also up for Best Hip-Hop and Best Collaboration.
Jay Z and Beyonce – joint album ‘Everything is Love’ – followed closely behind Cardi with eight nominations across the board, with their hit song ‘Apesh**’ from the LP scooping Video of the Year and Best Collaboration nods. “This is America” rapper Childish Gambino and Drake both secured seven nominations.
Cardi B is riding a wave of highs in her career and personal life, only welcoming her first child Kulture Kiari a week ago (7.7.2018). Meanwhile, on receiving news of Cardi finally giving birth, Will Smith had a special message for the 25-year-old mother.
