The long-awaited movie sequel Disconnect: The Wedding Planner’ has today (13.01.2023) premiered on Netflix.
The follow up to the 2018 popular Kenyan movie ‘Disconnect’ promises to bring all the drama and chaos as it delves into a rather confused case of wedding planning. After falling victim to a scam, a desperate man races the clock as he attempts to plan a luxurious destination wedding for an important investor.
The 1 hour and 46 minutes long movie features most of the cast from the first movie including Kate Kamau, Brenda Wairimu and Patricia Kihoro as well as the lovely edition of popular actor Pascal Tokodi.
Capital FM presenter Wanjira Longauer is also part of this star-studded cast and she plays the role of the maid of honor in this wedding fiasco.
Speaking to The Sauce, the elated Wanjira reveals it was both fun and humbling working on the film directed by popular filmmaker David ‘Tosh Gitonga. She is also excited for her fans to see the other things she is capable of aside from being on radio, emceeing and influencing.
“Film humbles you because the hours can be grueling, things can be confusing because there are many people on set— it’s a whirlwind. But I love every moment of it, I guess that’s why I studied filmmaking. When you watch the final product and it’s how you wanted it to be, you swell with pride,” says Wanjira.
“I have many talents. I’ve always felt that I’ve been kind of boxed in by the industry and I seek to change that,” she adds.
The Hype show host praised the growing Kenyan film industry all which has been made possible by the talent and hard work in the industry.
The two movies are available to stream on Netflix.
