It is the end of an era as Capital FM frequency says adios to HITS984 and welcomes new show The Hype hosted by Wanjira Longauer.
Speaking about what comes next for the radio show, Head of Radio Daniel Munyi said, “The show is now set to take a new direction with the with a brand new tone and feel, a new chapter.”
Poised to be the ultimate lifestyle hype-hop show in all the land ‘The Hype’ will run every Monday – Thursday from 7-10PM and is set to air the ‘Big Bounce’ Fridays 7- 9PM. Speaking about Ms. Longauer’s return to radio, Mr. Munyi noted the former Fuse984 show-host “fits the brand like a glove and is lovely to listen to.” Described as a very vibrant, energetic presenter Wanjira’s knowledge of hip hop and personality is sure to keep listeners fired up.
Marking the end of an era, ‘The Hype’ takes on the HITS984 slot, offering a fresh sound in a dynamic format that explores the emerging sub-genres of Hip Hop music.
The HITS984 has been a staple for Kenya’s youth culture, steering conversation and spotlighting talent within Kenya. With listenership locally and abroad, the show has had an eclectic set of presenters who are well esteemed in the radio industry among them Eve De Souza, Joey Muthengi, Soulo and Amina Abdi-Rabar as well as Anita Nderu, Anne Mwaura and Tracy Wanjiru.
Formerly known as Hits not Homework, “it is one of the flagship shows on Capital FM Kenya’s history. A history that’s also deeply entrenched in the shaping of the culture, hip-hop & entertainment industry in Kenya,” noted Radio Head of Department Danny Munyi.
