Camila Cabello just scored yet another major feat, an addition to her already decorated repertoire.
The former Fifth Harmony member is now the second Latina/Hispanic lead female artiste to earn the much-revered Diamond certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), for her smash hit Havana.
Cardi B’s Bodak Yellow was the first Latina female song to earn the certification.
Havana was Cabello’s most notable since her controversial exit from Fifth Harmony, and it would end up being a major 2017 hit.
It has garnered an impressive 1.66 billion streams on Spotify. In 2018, it snagged an array of trophies, including the Video of the Year Moonman at the year’s MTV Video Music Awards.
A Diamond certification implies that a record has sold 10,000,000 or more units. Other Latina stars to be bestowed with the feat are Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee for Despacito.
Worth noting: While Christina Aguilera may have been a feature on Maroon 5’s Moves Like Jagger, she got a Diamond plaque for the song too, technically making her the 3rd female Latina with the certification.
Havana is now the 62nd song overall to get a Diamond certification in the last 6 decades. The singer’s upcoming 3rd album drops next month.
