Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has been awarded an honorary doctorate degree by the United Kingdom’s University of Kent.
Tiwa was honored with the doctorate this past week during the University’s 2022 graduation ceremony held at Canterbury Cathedral.
The singer is an alumnus of the school, having studied business at the institution before venturing into music.
“We are super proud to have awarded the Queen of Afrobeats an honorary doctorate at Canterbury Cathedral this morning,” said Kent University in a tweet accompanied by a photo of Tiwa receiving the doctorate.
She also delivered a speech to the graduating class of 2022 urging them to pursue their dreams and aspirations.
“This is Dr. Tiwa Savage and I just want to say a huge congratulations to all of you, well done. I am super proud and i want you to go out there have fun, kill it. Be the best that you can be because you truly deserve it. Well done,” said Tiwa.
Social media was awash with congratulatory messages to Tiwa after posting the good news.
