Cabinet Secretaries supervise operations as KCPE kicks off nationwide

KCPE candidates seat for Day 1 of the national examinations; amid the glare of government officials.

The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) kicked off smoothly across the country with top government officials led by various Cabinet Secretaries supervising the operation to ensure the safety of the examinations materials at various centers.

Interior CS Fred Matiangi was at Garissa Primary school while his environment counterpart Keriako Tobiko inspected the opening of exam papers at the Athi River Deputy County Commissioners office. Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa who was in Nyandarua expressed confidence that the exercise will proceed smoothly as all measures had been put in place to ensure its effective administration.
The Central Regional Commissioner Wilson Njega together with education officials from Nyeri County released the exams to various school heads in the county.

Speaking before releasing the Day One exam papers, Njega said the security organs are set to handle any case of irregularity and ensure the exercise is conducted in a smooth manner. Njega also called in school heads to adhere to the guidelines given by the Ministry of Education and Interior Ministry to ensure there is no irregularity is recorded in the three days exercise.

Police too have been mobilized to ensure the security of the examinations.
