Burna Boy Is The First African Artist To Perform At Multiple International Award Shows

African superstar Burna Boy keeps on winning!

The Nigerian hitmaker becomes the first African artist to perform at multiple international awards like the Grammys, Billboard Music Awards, BET hip-hop awards, and the BRIT Awards.

Burna who released his newest single ‘Last Last’ on Friday 13th May 2022 closed out the 2022 Billboard Music Awards MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday (May 15).

Wearing a stylishly flayed black suit jacket and shorts, the Grammy winner delivered his new single, the Toni Braxton-sampling ‘Last Last,’ and the dub-flavored, laid-back single ‘Kilometre’ from 2021.

Burna Boy said in his Billboard cover story ahead of the performance, “You see how with Christ, there’s B.C. and A.D.? I feel like that’s how it is for me with performing. There’s going to be a ‘Before Burna Came’ and ‘After Burna’s Death’ time in the performing arts world. That’s my legacy.”

Burna who is turning 31 on July 2nd, 2022, will be releasing his upcoming sixth album, Love, Damini on the same day. “I’m reflecting on everything — what I’m doing and what’s happening where I’m from. Where I’m from is a part of where I’m going,” said Burna during his interview with Billboard.

He recently became the first Nigerian artist to headline (and sell out) Madison Square Garden in April 2022.
