This time of year is full of public holidays, so why not spend your time wisely.

So to make the most of your day off, why not read a book in just one day. It might seem like quite the challenge to read a book cover to cover in a day; however what’s life without a challenge. A small interesting book, with a captivating storyline, might be the best way to spend your day. Here are 3 books you could read in 24 hours:

3.The Old Man and The Sea – Earnest Hemingway

Written in 1952, this book is a classic. The author Earnest Hemingway was feted for his work on this iconic text, winning a Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. If you are in the mood for some drama, fiction, and major life lessons, this book delivers that in spades. Centered around the life of a Cuban fisherman Santiago, the book is a must-read for anyone interested in literary classics.

2. We Should All Be Feminists – Chimamanda Adichie

Looking to challenge your worldview? This book was written by Nigerian literary giant Chimamanda Adichie. Short, and easy to ready, Chimamanda writes in the first person about her experiences as a woman. For a woman reading it, it offers the chance to understand why you should be unashamed of your gender. For any man reading it, it will challenge one’s thinking and present a few arguments worth reflecting on. The book is a must-read for anyone who labels themselves as progressive.

1.Drunk – Jackson Biko

Kenyan writer and famed columnist finally wrote a book; and a good one at that. The book released early in 2018 is a good, entertaining read. Centered around the lives of two lead characters, their lives are intertwined by life’s events. Humorous, simple and understated, “Drunk” is definitely a page-turner. And why not support a Kenyan writer.
