Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz reveals he earned millions off YouTube from his top hitting collaboration of 2020 titled Waah!.
Platnumz explained the video had generated 32,266.53 Euros (Ksh4, 166,200) when it attained 39,358,770 views on Youtube. Currently the video has garnered over 60 million views which means his income from the song has almost doubled.
Waah! is a collaborative effort between theEast African hitmaker and his Congolese counterpart Koffi Olomide. It was uploaded on the online video platform in November 2020 and has since become a global hit.
The father of four who is currently visiting two of his children with Zari Hassan in South Africa pointed out that the more views a video gets on YouTube translates to earnings but was however quick to point out that it’s not a guarantee as views will translate to more money depending on which region or country the said views emanated from.
As such he urged fellow artists to always strive to ensure their content is relatable not only in their countries but other regions as well and especially first world countries, in order to maximize the gains.
“Not every song with the same number of views can generate that much income. It depends on who and from where the fans will be watching it from. There are some countries where the views don’t earn much income. Developed countries are the best countries to source views from,” he explained.
Diamond’s Youtube channel has over five million subscribers from across the globe and is estimated to be making not less than Sh15 million a month from his content on the platform.
The singer who is known for his philandering ways with East African women, can also be called the king of collabos as all of his collaborations have become hits. From African beauty with American singer Omarion, to Yope Remix with Congolese singer Innoss and Inama with Lingala maestro Fally Ipupa.
