Popular Tanzanian musician Nandy’s new song dubbed ‘Kiza Kinene’ featuring Kenyan boy band Sauti Sol is currently trending highly on YouTube.
The song which premiered on YouTube on Friday (06.09.19) gained over 400,000 views and more than 1,500 comments within 24 hours.
Kiza Kinene which is full of poetry is a slow romantic song that talks about the state of the relationship between two lovers. The two lovers go their separate ways after listening to too much ‘advice’ from the people around them. The song has an Taarab,Afro-pop feel which appeals to many East African fans according to Nandy in a press release.
Taking to her Instagram page on Saturday, the self-declared African Princess appreciated her Kenyan fans for the support that they have given the song pushing it to top on YouTube’s trending chart.
The collabo between Sauti Sol and Nandy comes a few days after the Kenyan band toured Tanzanian where they cemented their fan base at the country with their energetic performances. Sauti Sol appears to be focused on collabos for this year as they have not released one of their own songs but instead released one collabo after another.
They previously released a collabo dubbed ‘Kamasutra’ with Tanzanian songbird Vanessa Mdee.
Nandy on the other hand also seems to be widening her following in Kenya as the collabo with Sauti Sol comes a few months after she released another collabo with Willy Paul dubbed ‘Hallelujah’ who has also expressed his support for the new song on Instagram.
The song was produced by top Tanzanian producer Kimambo and the video was directed by the most sought after South African video director Justin Campos.
