Renowned Ugandan musician Cindy Sanyu has hit out at critics who’ve been attacking her online over her choice of dressing.
Cindy is one of the best live performers in Uganda, and loves wearing seductive costumes that some people deem inappropriate, considering her stature in society.
A number of netizens and music lovers have previously urged her to consider changing her customs, arguing that her music is enjoyed by many people including minors.
Responding to her critics in a recent interview, Cindy defended her raunchy dressing noting that she does it for her fans, and has not told anyone to do the same.
“What I wear, I just wear it. I do not go on stage and tell people to start dressing up like me. I just put them on because they are my costumes on stage. I move a lot on stage, I dance so much so I can’t put on big clothes that I will trip in.
“I wear what is comfortable for me, my style and my music. I would not be here if people did not enjoy or love it. I do not promote it because that is not how I dress when I’m not on stage. Even at home, my daughter asks me if I’m going to the beach when she sees me dressed like that, going out to perform.”
