Black Panther isn’t a favorite with Brits, misses out Best Film nomination at BAFTA

No Wakanda forever for Brits as Black Panther misses out on Best Picture nomination at the BAFTA Awards.

The nominations for the 72nd British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) were announced yesterday (09.01.19) in London and 2018 Marvel film Balck Panther was conspicuously missing out on the Best Picture nomination list.

American superhero movie Black Panther which features Oscar award-winning Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong’o instead only got one nomination for the Special Visual Effects nomination alongside Avengers: Infinity war, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, First Man and Ready Player One.

Best Film nomination went to BlackkKlansman, The Favourite, Green Book, Roma, and A Star Is Born which stars singer Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.

Black Panther actress Letitia Wright aka Shuri received an EE Rising Star Award nomination which will be voted for by the public.

Films that received that received multiple nominations include Bohemian Rhapsody, A Star is Born, Green Book and Roma. The awards will be held in London, the United Kingdom on February 10th, 2019.
