Ever wondered why Kenya’s beloved music group Sauti Sol have been together for two decades, made lots of music together and still have not parted ways as is characteristic with many groups the world over?
Well, talented singer-songwriter and 1/4 of the group Bien gave the answer to the million-dollar question. Appearing on the Afrobeats Podcast, the Inauma crooner cited ‘marriage-like’ therapy sessions as the key to all four members staying together for a record two decades.
“Most musical groups have been put together by the music business, Sauti Sol is put up by friendship and as we grew older, we started attending therapies like married couples,” He said of the group that also consists of singers Willis Chimano, Savara Mudigi and guitarist Polycarp Otieno.
He added: “I hear so much of collaborations that are commercial, people paying for collaborations, but we have never paid for any collaborations. The people we’ve worked with value us as much as we value them.”
Despite branching out and doing solo projects, Sauti Sol are adamant they will not be disbanding anytime soon.
