Beware Of The Latest Internet Sensation, The Milk Crate Challenge

Viral social media trends abound. With every waking day, a new challenge is set to take over the internet like wildfire.

The latest one, The Milk Crate Challenge, has to be the most ballsy one yet.

The challenge that just gained notoriety a few days ago kick started after one Kenneth Waddel showed in a Facebook live video a bunch of kids climbing up a flight of crates on August 13th 2021. A day later, one Jordan Browne posted a video of a man trying to climb a crate stairs.

Not so long after, more and more people started to hop on the trend, and it was promptly named The Milk Crate challenge.

The trend entails someone climbing up the flight of crates, after they are arranged, without falling, hence proving one’s ability to balance. Quickly sweeping through TikTok like wildfire, the trend is now viral.

Predictably, this challenge has proved quite the hazard. The falls from climbing the not so stable milk crates can cause serious bodily harm including head injuries.

Doctors are coming out to warn people of the dangerous injuries that can occur.

“It’s perhaps even worse than falling from a ladder,” said Shawn Anthony, an orthopedic surgeon at Mount Sinai hospital in New York, to the Washington Post. “It’s very difficult to brace yourself from the falls I’ve seen in these videos. They’re putting their joints at an even higher risk for injury,” he added.
