Best Bridge College Leads The Way In Solar Energy Vocational Training

Best Bridge College offers vocational and technical training on solar installation.

 

The institution located at Kose Heights in Nairobi’s Hurlingham area is headed by Prof. Mang’oli in addition to being under the directorship of Dr. Cleopa Omondi and Peter Okore the institution sets is sights on creating a shift in vocational training in Kenya. Offering diploma and certificate courses, Best Bridge train students in a variety of clean energy concepts, solar installation, and integration as well as solar photovoltaics. In the duration of the course, students learn how best they can introduce solar energy equipment into the Kenyan market that is largely dependent on the national power provider Kenya Power and Lighting Company. The college has partnered with the United States Center for International Trade Development to offer Energy System and Technology Management training and certification.

 

In an interview with Capital Campus,  course instructors Teresa Khakasa Juma and David Kathingo Makuthu highlighted the need for renewable energy as a tool to move the Kenyan industry forward. Teresa Juma noted,”remote areas may not have electricity, installing such devices could promote growth.” Mr. Makuthu also remarked on the opportunities that could come from such training saying,”Kenya should look towards renewable energy, young men who train in solar installation could have a bright future.”

 

The diploma course takes a year to complete with the option of an internship and final semester abroad at Skyline College. The third semester and 3-month internship are facilitated by Best Bridge International College in association with Skyline College based in Silicon Valley. Students also have the chance to train with top notch solar-based organizations such as   Go Solar and Power Point E.A. According to the institution’s Marketing Director Agatha Kirika, the college hopes to create partnerships with local green energy organizations including M-Kopa, Davis & Shirtliff  and others in the hopes of fostering a collaborative effort in training and industry attachment for its students.
