Beauty Buff: 4 Reasons why your natural hair journey is stagnant

Wearing your mane out is the most fulfilling, freeing feeling ever. Scrolling through Instagram will alone make you want to take your braids out and try out all the beautiful effortless looking styles.

But this would not be the first time you’ve caved in. One time you did and it went downhill right after the braids were out. Tried out the styles from Pinterest and all the YouTube tutorials and you were left with just one question, how comes mine doesn’t look like that?

Several things might be the cause, here are 4 major reasons:

1.Hair type

Yes, there are quite a variety of hair types. This depends on curl patterns and textures, with the most common being 4c and 4B. So for you to pull off a successful natural style you have got to use products and styles that will best suit your hair type. Different hair types can handle different hair processes, products better. Therefore, finding out your hair type will help you fine-tune your routine to get the best results in the course of your hair journey.

2. Hair volume

Now you either have lots of hair or very little hair. Whichever definitely defines how the different styles will be pulled off. Hence when searching and googling natural hairstyles to explore, it is important to have this in mind. Without a doubt, many styles are better pulled off with much more hair volume, but there are ways of manipulating a head of hair with less volume that could deliver great results.

3. Hair Length

Always keep in mind hairstyles with regard to how long your hair really is. There are styles that look gorgeous with short hair and those that will complement long hair. Do not shy away from trying out different styles. Whether short or long, always aim to make the best of it.

Even so, do not break the bank, find alternatives that cost cheaper; even making natural alternatives at home.

Our individual journeys to the perfect head of hair are different. Being patient and loving yours every step of the way is more than important. However, for a successful natural hair journey, you have got to have consistency and work with the intent to get your hair healthy, voluminous and long.
