Bahati fails to impress fans with his new controversial single, Khaligraph responds

Singer Bahati’s new song, ‘Fikra za Bahati’, has been trending for all the wrong reasons.

The controversial musician and reality TV star released his new single off his upcoming album and fans agree he has done the most.

The lyrics and video sent fans on an overdrive. Many felt he had taken it too far while others blatantly cheered him on and laughed at the supposed hilarity of it all. “We have lost a Gospel artiste for good,” “Lost Gospel society!,” read some of the reactions on the post. The clout-chasing musician who has four children was also accused of trying to sound like rapper King Kaka in the new release.

The lyrical essence of the song consists almost entirely a conceited Bahati proudly singing about his celebrity stance and influence. The not-so-subtle digs at fellow musicians carried the day though, as it was likely something no one saw coming. From taking a swipe at Sauti Sol’s record label, Sol Generation, to alluding that Octopizzo’s career took a nosedive after he married a white woman and attributing it to witchcraft, to ridiculing Khaligraph Jones’ workout escapades, it is utterly clear that he came for the jugular.

He seemingly explained why he is no longer a gospel artist by rapping of the time he had a child outside wedlock and he was shunned for it.

Shortly after the release of the video, award-winning Kenyan rapper Khaligraph Jones responded with a stern message on social media saying “Naskia Bahati ameanza bhangi na sigara ameanza kurap matusi, punguza hiyo bhangi baba wacha kiherehere.”

In the video teasing the new song, he is seen nonchalantly smoking a cigar flanked by a lady in the background. He followed that up with another picture with an even more potentially flack-emanating message. “Call me the lighter that has been missing in the Kenyan music industry, ” he quipped.

‘Fikra za Bahati’ is the lead single off of Bahati’s upcoming new album ‘Love Like This’, slated to drop on the 14th of this month. The singer had taken a social media sabbatical for a few weeks before the huge announcement just a couple of days ago.
