Kenyan TikTok creator and online sensation Azziad Nasenya has emerged the first runner up in the African Social Star category for this year’s E! People’s Choice Awards.
The 21-year-old who was up against other social media giants of African descent was well in the tiff, with many Kenyans rallying votes in her favor, after she announced that she announced that she had snagged a nomination for herself in this year’s awards.
Taking to social media, she has penned an appreciation note for the votes and support she was bestowed with since: “Thank you to all my supporters, my online family. I am truly honoured and humbled to have received overwhelming support to emerge Runner Up for the African Social Star 2021, E! PCAs,” she wrote.
This year’s accolade went to Zimbabwe’s Chikocho, while the 2nd runner up was South Africa’s Witney Ramabulana. Azziad congratulated them, while asking fans to watch the show which airs December 8 on E!
This was the 3rd year in a row that the award gala included the African Social Star category. Azziad, despite not winning, had in all the tidings under her belt as she was the only Kenyan and East African nominated.
The 47th People’s Choice Awards will be held in Santa Monica, California. Last year, comic head Elsa Majimbo won the award. The awards are fan-voted, making it one of the most desirable by artistes.
