The Arthouse Film Series, presented by the NBO Film Festival and the Goethe-Institut Kenya, is a new monthly event that seeks to bring independent cinema from around the world to Kenya’s cinema space. Arthouse as a genre includes films with an artistic and often experimental content.
The Arthouse Film Series will present cinematic works from all over the world; from Africa, to Asia, Europe, and other regions. The series seeks to create a platform and space for independent film that does far more than entertain. The series further seeks to introduce the filmmakers to the Kenyan audience and selected filmmakers will be invited to present their works, conduct workshops and avail themselves for Q&A’s after screenings.
The first film to be screened is “Crumbs”, a Spanish-Ethiopian Science fictional love story, directed by Miguel Llansó. Tired of picking up the crumbs of gone-by civilizations, the main character Candy dreams his life away when not living in a state of perpetual fear. Beautiful visuals and landscapes of Ethiopia create a mysterious world. The screening of the short movie “Crumbs” by Miguel Llansó will be held at the Century Cinema Junction on the 14th of June.
