A 40-year-old American man has filed a lawsuit against his parents after they threw out his comprehensive collection of pornography and sex toys, which he says is worth nearly $29,000.
According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, the man moved to Michigan in 2016 to live with his parents after going through a divorce and did chores around the house to cover his rent until he moved out 10 months later.
When his parents delivered his belongings to his new place in Indiana, he noticed boxes containing his pornography and sex toys were nowhere to be found.
When the man asked about the missing boxes in January 2018, his father informed him they were destroyed. He wrote to his father: “If you had a problem with my belongings, you should have stated that at the time and I would have gone elsewhere. Instead, you choose to keep quiet and behave vindictively.”
But his dad allegedly wrote back: “Believe it or not, one reason for why I destroyed your porn was for your own mental and emotional health. I would have done the same if I had found a kilo of crack cocaine. Someday, I hope you will understand.”
“I don’t think that you have been listening to me, so let me make this very clear. I do not possess your pornography,” the man’s father admitted in an email included in the lawsuit. “It is gone. It has been either destroyed or disposed of. I may well have missed a few items that are now in your possession but, at this point, if you don’t have it, it is gone.”
He added, “We counted twelve moving boxes full of pornography plus two boxes of ‘sex toys’ as you call them. We began that day the process of destroying them and it took quite a while to do so.”
Would you ever sue your parents for something like this?
