Ivorian singer Alpha Blondy gave an exhilarating performance yesterday (22.09.19) at the 27th edition of the Koroga Festival.
The suited-up 66-year-old made the jam-packed crowd at Koroga wait in anticipation on Sunday night for his long-awaited performance in Kenya. The wait was all worth it and alongside his band, Alpha Blondy got on stage amid cheers from the crowd.
Alpha didn’t miss a beat when he performed hits such as ‘Jerusalem’, ‘Cocody Rock’, ‘Life’, ‘Peace In Liberia’, ‘Sebe Allah’, ‘Whole Lotta Love’, ‘Sweet Fanta Diallo’, ‘Multipartism’ and ‘Human Race’.
He ended his iconic performance with a crowd favourite ‘Brigadier Sabari’ that everyone sang along to as he danced with a kid fan.
During his performance, the hitmaker spoke with such conviction about religion and terrorism saying that God is for all of us and killing one innocent person is killing the human race. He also touched on loving one another and coming together in harmony saying we need peace in the world.
Prior to his performance, top Kenyan acts Wyre and Redsan entertained the crowd with some of the all-time hits much to the excitement of fans.
In attendance, was Capital Group chairman Dr Chris Kirubi and Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho. Celebrities such as Dj Pierra Makena, Radio presenter Mbusi, former media personality Njambi Koikai and hitmaker Timmy T-Dat were also at the event that was hosted by Capital FM’s Tracy Wanjiru and DJ Kriss Darlin.
Rasta colours and good vibes were the order of the day at the Koroga Festival One Love Edition at the Two Rivers Mall.
