Upon the release of her new single “In Common” Grammy winner Alicia Keys began a revolution, encouraging women to embrace their bare faces and live makeup free. Alicia declared her stance sharing she yearned to be free and had officially stop covering up. “Not my face, not my mind, not my soul, not my thoughts, not my dreams, not my struggles, not my emotional growth. Nothing,” she said.
With her large following, it did not take much time for many to join the cause. The reaction on social media platforms quickly grew with many joining the bandwagon of a make-free life. The philosophy of self-love and self-confidence has been widely embraced with many uploading pictures on Instgram under the hashtag #NoMakeup.
