Nigerian star Mr. Eazi has released a documentary, Lagos to London.
Following the recent release of his third EP Lagos to London, Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade popularly known as Mr. Eazi has released a documentary called Lagos to London a few days ago.
The Documentary presents interviews featuring Mr. Eazi himself and an assortment of music industry professionals in Nigeria and outside of the country. The interviewees including Sony Music’s Michael Ugwu, A&R man Bizzle Osikoya, and award-winning DJ Jimmy Jatt speak about the Nigerian music industry and its growing influence in global pop music.
Clocking at just over 20 minutes, the documentary also covers the rise of Mr. Eazi from “selling phones” to his current status as a Nigerian music pop star performing at venues around the world including the cities appearing in the titles of his last two music projects: Lagos, Accra, and London.
Uncle London who started his music in Accra, Ghana, then moved to Lagos Nigeria and had his international breakthrough in London is the pioneer of Banku music, a fusion sound he describes as a mixture of Ghanaian highlife and Nigerian chord progressions and patterns.
The 27-year-old was recently in Kenya where he launched his artists’ mentorship program called “empawa 100” in partnership with betting company Betpawa. In the program, Mr. Eazi will facilitate the empowerment of 100 upcoming artists from 6 African countries.
Meanwhile, Mr. Eazi’s latest album which features songs such as “Miss you bad” ft Burna boy, “Property” ft Mo-T, “Open and close” ft Diplo, “Surrender” ft Simi and “London Town” ft Giggs has found success online with more than 79 million streams and counting.
